Jaime Barrientos, Universidad Alberto Hurtado - Keynote Speaker

He is a full professor of social psychology at the Psychology Faculty, Universidad Alberto Hurtado, Chile. He is director of the social-communitarian department at the same faculty and director of the Programa de Investigación en Género y Diversidad (GEDIS) de la Universidad Alberto Hurtado. Also, he was a visiting professor at the Depto de Antropología Social y Psicología Social, Facultad de Ciencias Políticas y Sociología, Universidad Complutense de Madrid.

He is a pioneer in LGBTQ+ research in Chile. His research focuses on homophobic violence, the impact of prejudice, and discrimination on the mental health of gays men, lesbians and transgender people. He was one of the promoters and part of the team that executed the second national sexuality survey in Chile (ENSSEX). He has directed more than a dozen national and international research projects. He belongs to the editorial boards of numerous Latin American research journals in Psychology and sexuality (for example, International Journal of Sexual Health, Journal of Sex Research, International Journal of Social Psychology,  Psychology of Sexual Orientation and Gender Diversity, Sexologies, Psykhe). He has published as an author or co-author numerous peer-review research articles in LGBTQ+ issues.  He is full member of the International Academy of Sex Research and WAS.
